What are Divisions of General Practice?

Divisions of General Practice provide services and support to their local general practices. They inform and educate GPs and practice staff about programs, services and new initiatives, and allow GPs a voice in local health services planning and other health agencies. The Divisions network achieves systemic improvements in local primary care that cannot be achieved by individual GPs working alone.

All Divisions provide core programs such as access, prevention and early intervention, integration and multidisciplinary care, population health and better management of chronic disease. Individual Divisions also deliver many other programs, depending on the needs of their local general practices and populations. Typical examples are providing access to allied health services,  workforce support and programs to improve the use of medications.
