Changes to obstetrics items and extended Medicare Safety Net
The Department of Health and Ageing has announced changes in the 2009 – 2010 budget measure to cap Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) benefits for obstetric services. From 1 January 2010, the Medicare rebates for 15 items have been increased by 10-150%. Over a standard course of maternity care, the base MBS rebates have been increased by about $300/patient.
